Carlos Molina Hutt joined the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute.

Carlos Molina Hutt gave a talk titled “Earthquake-induced repairs costs of mid-rise RC core wall buildings in deep sedimentary basins using empirical & simulated seismic hazard characterizations” at the University of California, Davis.

Carlos Molina Hutt was awarded the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) – Shah Family Innovation Prize. This prize rewards younger professionals and academics for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the field of earthquake risk mitigation and management.

Pouria Kourehpaz received a DIALOG Graduate Scholarship in Structural Engineering at UBC. Structural engineering firm DIALOG offers this scholarship annually to only one student entering the first year of a graduate program in structural engineering.

Jenny Si was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master's Program. This award will provide funds for her studies and research in life-cycle costing and performance-based seismic resiliency in buildings.

Pouria Kourehpaz was awarded a Civil Engineering Excellence Award for the first year of his Ph.D. studies from the Civil Engineering Department at the University of British Columbia, which will hold an associated appointment as a Graduate Research Assistant.
